We’re still selling them!

Mandy here. We are still selling bracelets, and I have sold about 15 within the past week. Currently, we are in the process of getting a table at Tat Plaza so that we can sell bracelets as well as inform people about the organization. We will let everyone know when our date is set!

The end is near…

Well we are still selling the bracelets. Any of the members can be contacted in order to buy them. They are super cute and they help out a good cause. We are currently in the works of putting a table at the Tate Center next week so that we can reach more people with the selling of the bracelets. We will keep everyone updated on the times and dates that the bracelets will be sold!

Come one, come all!

Bracelet sells have been really successful, but we still have a multitude left!  Address any of the Global Engagement Team Clothing members to obtain one. They are $1 each! They’re cute and a great reminder of the great cause you’ll be aiding!

This has been Nicole Smith with this week’s update!

Spring Break is over time to work hard

Well for the past week we have been out of school for Spring Break but this week we have been working hard with our project. We are still selling the bracelets showcased in the previous blog post and we are still working on setting up a week where our group can start collecting the clothing. Next week we will have more specific dates about the clothing drive and how it will be taking place. Until then all of us will be selling the bracelets around campus to raise some funds.

We Have BRACELETS!!

Mandy here! We are happy to report that we have received 500 bracelets from Colombia! Now we will begin selling them for $1 each and the money we receive from these sales will directly go to the organization. If you would like to receive a bracelet, contact one of us and I’m sure we could work something out!

Here are the bracelets. The “Wall-E” ones are slightly bigger than the other type.

This is my left hand. This is my left hand modeling the bracelet. This is my hand persuading you to buy one!

Update by Tierra

So we recently met as a team over lunch to discuss the progression of our project. Soon, Mandy and I will be be sending a bin request to RHA so we can start our clothing drive. Since shipping expenses are so steep, we plan on reselling the clothing via clothing sale or maybe plato’s closet. More so, we are patiently waiting for the bracelets to arrive form the actual organization that we are partnering with. The shipping process is long but we have an estimation of about 500 bracelets. we plan to sell each for $1. That’s all for now……Happy Service!!!!!

Pequeno Corazon !

Hey LC Fam! This is Jamarha with another UPDATE from the Clothing Team’s service project progress for this week. Basically, the main thing that we have been working on this week to continue our progress for the Pequeno Corazon foundation is trying to get bins placed in all of the dorms. We want to mainly focus on the freshman dorms though because it would be easier to manage in the high rises and the Hill community. I am trying to take a trip to Walmart to look at their prices on big clothing bins. Also, Mandy had the idea that instead of sending clothing, we should have a clothing sale in Creswell. Then, we can have more funds to send to the organization and we don’t have to wast time and money trying to ship the clothing.

Hey everyone!  This is Nicole with this week’s update!  The Global Engagement’s Team Clothing is currently in the works of getting bins and the approval of such bins’ placement in various dorms amongst the University of Georgia’s campus.  The prospect dorms include Brumby, Russell, Creswell, Oglethorpe, Hill, Lipscomb, Boggs, Mell, Church, but donations will not be limited to the dwellers of such dorms- everyone is welcome to donate!  Start gathering up clothes (of good condition) that you are willing to donate now and look out for the Global Engagement Team Clothing bins coming soon.  All clothing will go towards a great cause- El Fundacion Pequeῆo Corazόn.  Help save young hearts!

Hey :) this is Alli, one of the members of the group. Each week one of us will talk about what is going on with our project and today is my turn. Over the past days I have been communicating with a member of the staff in Pequeño Corazon so that they can help make our project a great success. I was informed that the bracelets that they are donating to us so that we can sell on campus have been shipped and will be coming within the next few weeks. In order to make this project work the way we intended to, we need to sell as many as possible. Hopefully we will have them by mid February so we can begin this task and get the ball rolling. I will keep you guys updated on this matter so that you chip into this great cause.

Hello Readers! My name is Mandy, and I am one of the clothing team members. Our UGA Global Engagement Learning Community (GELC) is doing a service project this semester, and our team is working with Fundacion Pequeno Corazon (Little Heart Foundation), a non-profit organization in Colombia whose primary purpose is to help children from low income families with congenital heart disease. The foundation sells gently used clothing for a low price, and the money they receive helps children in Colombia who need heart surgeries.

Our mission this semester will be to collect used clothing from different residence halls at UGA and sell bracelets to help with the shipping costs. Depending on how much money we raise to ship the clothing, we will donate whatever clothing we have left to a local charity.

Follow along this semester as we help children who need heart surgeries! Here is the foundation’s website where you can find more information: http://www.pequenocorazon.org.co
